It's probably not as chaotic as Yanli trying to get a dozen or so progressively stranger men registered with the school to pick Jin Ling up after school.

"No, Mrs Secretary, you have not seen him on the cover of Life magazine, he just looks like it hahaha!"

"No, I know he comes on a motorcycle, but he's always very careful and carries and extra helmed for A-Ling."

"No, he's not a felon... Well, okay he is but he was released for good behaviour and the case was jaywalking, so he's safe hahaha! (Let's not mention he was jaywalking across the mayor's front yard in protest of the new homeless policy...)"

The one person the school board never actually seen is Jin Ling's actual dad, who mostly works out of town and only comes back on the weekends for the first few years after taking over as a CEO.

The whole “every character is Jin Ling’s uncle” is funny in canon, but can you imagine Jin Ling graduating in a modern au, running around desperately trying to get like twelve extra tickets off of any classmates who might not need all of theirs, only so the most random collection of people you have ever seen in your life can attend—ranging from heirs to multi million dollar companies, to the cheerful man who operates the ‘Root (Vegetables) of All Evil’ produce stand at the local farmers market?
